"They
did not hide themselves in order to disappear, but
in order to await the cue for their entry on the stage.
They have been brought from the limbo of the wings
with masks and gloves of gold." -- Jean Cocteau.
This is the story of an American Israeli student and
athlete, Esther Friedman, whose bitter experience in
losing her lover to an Arab rival turns her head and
-- on the rebound -- she emigrates to Israel to work
on a kibbutz. When this proves frustrating she joins
the Israeli Army where she is spotted by the Mossad.
It all leads to a daring raid on the Egyptian Museum
in Cairo, where she and a team of agents steal the Mask
and Golden coffin of the boy King Tutankhamun, as well
as a myriad of ancient treasures. Their escape and the
attempts to thwart their venture by the brillian Egyptian
police chief, Mahmoud Shahin, lead to a breathtaking
international chase across Europe -- all complicated
by the ongoing love rivalry of the two women.
"From the Limbo of the Wings" is a modern-day story
of love, lust, double cross, intrigue revenge and spy
drama around the world where single-minded endeavour
produces a compelling narrative around the time of the
assassination of Anwar el Sadat.
